Abstract
Information Technology (IT) has been said to be a perfect tool for good governance and economic development of any country especially in a developing country like Nigeria and has remained a catalyst of growth for developed countries. This study examines the importance of Information Technology (IT) which is the application of computer and telecommunication equipment to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data, often in the settings of a business or other enterprise in creating good governance and economic development of a country. It was discovered on the completion of this study that information technology plays a significant role in promoting good governance and economic development in Nigeria. It was recommended that effective and efficient application of Information technology is an indispensable element to good governance and Economic Development.
